If you know anything about summer fog in northern California these temperatures are pretty high and over 90% of the people on the coast from about Big Sur to Crescent City don't have air conditioners because of the summer weather which is often high or low fog (lately from about May st on until September or October). It's true we are supposed to get our warmest weather in August but that didn't happen this year on the coast. Instead the highest temperatures of the year (on the coast) are today and tomorrow. We have an off shore breeze from inland blowing out to sea the last few days and at least one day more which is why it's so hot on the Northern California coast by the way. It's unusual to have this kind of weather condition but sometimes it happens still this far north. The Santa Ana Winds which this resembles is what blows off the deserts towards the oceans and often burns down areas from the Ventura Freeway to Malibu on the ocean. People often have to hide in the ocean to survive these blazes (but not so far this year because of very very very unusual weather state wide.)
