They said the Park Fire appeared to be out from their vantage point of driving up Interstate 5 at least. They also saw that over 1 foot of new snow had fallen on Mt. Shasta where they live so they were impressed by this. I told them that I had seen a rain graph and how it had rained 2 to 3 inches in the greater Eureka area and between Chico and Redding where the fire was it had rained one to two inches.
They said they had been caught in a flooding rain somewhere around Auburn too where it came down about 1/2 inch within a few minutes and had to drive only a few miles an hour not to hydroplane off the road because up to 6 inches of water on the roads where they were.
