I was struck by the mass walkout of a nearby university where Walker I believe was supposed to be attending now. The leader of the walkout of students today said he was doing this "Because it could be anyone of them that was killed by the police. I think that's a good point for newly installed university students around the U.S. to think about.
However, I think the problem is mostly economic rather than a civil rights issue like I said before. The real problem is the loss of 50% of the wealth of the middle and poorer class during the Great Recession. The problem is that ethnically people of the same ethnicities tend to help each other first. The problem is that when the Civil Rights Bill was enacted was the richest the average person in the U.S. has ever been (at least as far as buying power of the average person in the U.S.)
So, to blame specifically the police or the poor isn't useful. Everything has changed. A better way to say it is the infrastructure of all kinds we used to have isn't there anymore like it was during the 20th Century. That likely is the best way to put this. So, the next time you think about this look at a rusty bridge nearby where you live and wonder when it will collapse. Will it collapse before it is fixed and as a result will people die just like this young man just did?
This is a problem of infrastructure of the U.S. of funding for bridges and roads and police etc. We are not the same country we were 15 years ago unfortunately.
