If the leaders of the Catholic Church want to be taken seriously and to have the credibility that they wish for, another approach needs to be taken. Of course the church will likely survive any given onslaught or perceived complete lack of credibility. After all, look at the last 2000 years. So given this, we know the Catholic Church can survive anything. However, credibility is another thing entirely. If the leaders of the Catholic church are accomplices in a perceived sexual abuse scandal that rocks back through the centuries to the time of Christ it is definitely not a good thing for the Catholic Church's credibility nor for the credibility of any church Christian or otherwise because what happens in one church happens in most churches or even all of them of all religions and faiths to a greater or lesser degree.
So if the Catholic leaders want to be taken seriously by non-Catholics or even Secular Catholics they must do much more than they are presently doing to have any credibility at all with anyone anywhere.
