I think people are more racist than they were between 1965 and 2006 but I think this isn't because people "Want" to be more racist. It is more just out of economic survival of each race and everyone in each race worldwide.
When Civil Rights legislation was passed in 1964 by Democratic President Johnson it likely was the penultimate achievement of his entire political career. Likewise, when president Obama passed "Obamacare" it also likely was the penultimate achievement of his career as well.
However, it is important to realize that in 1964 the average American was the richest he or she had ever been. A 17 year old white male then could easily support 5 people or more if he wanted to. But now, the average 17 year old white male without a high school diploma might have to resort to selling something illegal to even feed himself or herself or be working at McDonald's or Burger King and that is to say nothing about paying for an apartment or a car or other vehicle. Whereas a 17 year old in 1964 with a job as a garbage man or carpenter without a high school diploma could likely afford two cars, a house, a wife, and three children financially speaking.
So, this financial change to America is more about what is happening in the U.S. rather than race. Another factor is just how high new cars and New Houses cost in relation to average income. for example, around 1965 the Minimum wage was (I just researched this) $1.25 an hour. However, simultaneously a brand new Volkswagon bug likely was around $800 dollars new. So, if you lived at home you could easily afford to buy a brand new $800 VW Bug even if you were only working 20 hours a week after high school or college for something like Burger King or Macdonald's.
But now, with Minimum wage and the price of a car or a house where they are you might as well fly to the moon if you expect to buy a new car or house at 17 even working full time at the minimum wage.
So, what appears now to be racism but instead people just trying to make sure their families survive these times since around 2006.
People might say these times are racist but those are mostly people who watch Fox News who have been racists since the 1950s because the demographic for that station is mostly people over 75 years of age.
So, are people more racist now than they were 15 years ago?
No.
Are they trying to financially survive more any way they can and to help their families survive?
Yes.
Could this look to an outsider like racism?
Yes.
But are we really more racist now than before 9-11 when everything started to go to hell financially for the U.S. and Europe?
I would say "No!"
However, if you asked me if people in the western World are more against Islam now than before 9-11 that would be a no brainer because Islamic terrorists are likely the major reason why the world's economy sucks right now from 2001 until now.
However, I've said before to be against Islam because of Osama Bin Laden is like Being against all Christians because of Timothy McVeigh who blew up the government building and hundreds of people in Oklahoma.
If you are logical and reasonable and a critical thinker you realize the truth. However, what is happening in France now might end the truth with panic by secular Christians throughout Europe.
