The Camper You Wish You Owned: $500,000: Video
I was thinking more about the above video on the 4 wheel drive camper. First of all, if you were going anywhere really remote likely dust could be a problem on a camper like that. Also, if you were really doing extreme things something like that would be pretty top heavy which could be a problem too.
So, it makes more sense to me to have something like an Alaskan Camper that goes up and down to reduce wind and being top heavy that you also could unbolt from your 4 wheel drive truck and leave it on side jacks somewhere when you wanted to do some extreme 4 wheeling because something like they are showing looks really great but that is a lot of weight when you are in extreme situations that could break an axle or something if you were really trying to go off road with it. Also, in driving through a forest on an extreme 4 wheel drive road there isn't much clearance often from tree branches or rock outcroppings. So, unless you were somewhere in the desert this would or could be a problem too.
So, even though this looks really great what you actually could do with it without breaking an axle or tearing the camper right off the vehicle or ripping it in various ways would be a real problem in real life. However, if you are a really good driver you could likely camp in some really amazing places all over North America or throughout the world if you were really good and thought it through right before you accidentally trashed it somewhere on a tree, breaking an axle or rock outcropping or whatever, or getting the thing filled with dust from a bad road or something like that.
