The "Cloud" is about as safe as your smartphone is which is not at all safe and secure for a variety of reasons. It is called "the cloud" because pieces of your information could be anywhere in packets all over the world on servers anywhere. That's why it's called the Cloud. However, if you are a hacker and decide to target someone for ransoming their information you could easily grab that information from all it's packets all over the world if you knew what you were doing.
Because of this I advocate not using the cloud and instead put your information on an external hard drive that you keep in your possession. So, that way only you have control of your information because only you are in charge of backing up all your computers on one huge or several smaller external hard drives which will back up each computer you own when you want to.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
