Though Obama (and many others in the western world) have wanted Assad overthrown for some time now, what they are creating by all their actions is not at all what anyone wanted. Instead the looming overthrow of Assad is only going to make ISIS bigger and stronger and have more territory and they will now kill millions at a time instead of the hundreds and thousands at a time in the past of Shias, Christians, Yazidis, other minorities and secular non-religious people as well.
So, instead of being happy at the end of Assad, the western world is going to be completely horrified at likely millions of deaths instead of hundreds or thousands at a time. Isis also likely will begin to take territory in Lebanon as well while they seek out revenge upon Hezbollah first in Lebanon. However, they also will kill not only Shias but also Christians, and all other minorities that are not extremist Sunni like ISIS.
This is one of the many reasons 500,000 refugees are gathering in Libya because they don't want to be killed by ISIS either. So, they are willing to risk drowning to make it to Europe rather than to die along with their families at the hands of ISIS.
