I have found this to be a very useful attitude. For example, in the U.S. most people died before 60 (definitely before 1900) and even when Social Security was first started in the 1930s most people still never lived to collect Social Security, only a minority of people paying into it did. That's why it was financially successful then and not now. But, after 1950 something new happened. People starting not dying from Polio or whooping cough from vaccinations and many other vaccinations were developed. People started learning that they had to exercise and to wear clothes and shoes that didn't contribute to their crippling or early deaths. People started more going to therapists of all kinds, not just for doctors (who in the 1950s) often smoked and drinked and died by age 50 to 55 too then by the way. So, learning more about how our minds and bodies actually worked changed everything about longevity in the U.S., Europe and the whole world.
If you look at a power like Russia for example, most men there are still dying by 50 to 57 years of age.
Why is this?
There are several reasons for this.
First, most males are sort of conditioned by the culture to be sort of what Americans would call Alcoholics by 15 to 20 years of age. Second, diet isn't necessarily something most people care a lot about. Third, most jobs are not a happy experience. Fourth, the ecology has been decimated by the old Soviet Union and contributes (just like now in China) to the early deaths of most men there by about 50 to 57 years of age.
And this isn't even a third world nation. In third world nations it is much much worse from starvation, revolutions, outright wars with other nations, rape, incest, and a general lack of education.
For example, if Russia had been a democracy instead of the Soviet Union from 1917 on until 1990 or so they would also have a life expectancy for men of over 70 to 80 years of age now. But, that didn't happen, and we have a similar story in China where there are now 300 million people at a lifestyle similar to the U.S. but who also have 300 million people with Tuberculosis and 1/5 of them have a type (about 60 million people) that cannot be treated with anything and is completely incurable.
So, people think of Russia and China as successful nations. But, in the end you are only as successful as your poorest group of people are.
So, I guess the point I'm trying to make here is if you live here on earth and you are over 40 years of age anywhere,
You are a living Miracle!
Because 200 years ago people who lived to be over 40 had to be the strongest and wisest of people and often were world leaders of various kinds because of their vast experience and knowledge and genetics that had kept them alive so very long.
So, potentially at least, if you are over 40 you are one of the wisest people who has ever lived on earth for thousands of years.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
