There are religions and then there is being "Spiritual". I find they are not the same thing.
To me, religions often are "Talking about something" and being spiritual is something more real and tangible like "driving a car" rather than "Talking about driving a car" or "Flying a plane" rather than just "Talking about flying a plane".
So, to me, being religious is always questionable whereas being "Spiritual" is having genuine experiences with God, Jesus, Buddha, Nature, Life.
So, to me, the problem with religions is that often they are only written forms that have no meaning beyond cultural in many or most people's lives.
So, until "spirituality" becomes a life or death thing it might not have "Actual" meaning but only theoretical meaning or no real meaning at all.
So, when people kill each other over religions, I always know that this is only cultural, because in knowing God, he doesn't ask us to kill people or ourselves.
Deciding to kill someone has nothing to do with God at all. So, you always know people killing people are insane (even if only in the moment that they kill someone or decide to kill someone).
However, self defense is important too. No nation or family would be alive now that didn't believe in self defense.
However, this is always a quandary for all human beings. "How do you handle this paradox?"
And everyone is going to answer this somewhat differently.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
