I missed this article and subject when it flew by in May for some reason so I realized since this was the single hottest may in 136 years here on earth it might be appropriate to share it now.

    This death toll, even if remotely correct, is a useless statistic. India has 1.3 BILLION people which means that about 90 MILLION+ die every year.

    In the last 10 years many people have died here in the U.S. and around the world because of the heat. And it is usually the poor and the old who die in these places around the world. In the U.S. it is often the poor living in big cities without air conditioning or they live far out into the country where people don't visit them to see if they are alive on a regular basis.

    A friend of mine died even in Los Angeles (not from the heat) but his body was there for a week before a psychic mutual friend told me she thought he was dead and after calling all 7 of his phones (he was a high school teacher in east Los Angeles and lived in the San Fernando Valley in a nice Town House, I finally called his sister and she called the police and he had been both alone and dead for 1 week or more and even though he had missed his place as a teacher during this time, somehow word had not gotten to the police to check on him until I called his sister who lives in another state.

    So, even non-heat related situations where people aren't contacted soon enough can wind up in deaths. This is a problem not just in the U.S. but all over the world.

    So, the point is make sure your family and friends don't die in the heat by checking on them when it gets really warm. Make sure they have an air conditioner or ice and a fan or something like that and plenty of drinkable water and food to eat. Otherwise, you might visit one day and wish you hadn't when they have been dead for some time.
