When you have a blog

When you first start a blog you might start one for any reason at all. I think most people just want to share some aspect of their lives with others.

However, as time goes on and your blog might get popular it becomes something else. Then you have to think more about what you are saying because what you write touches so many people. You can't really be so silly and you have to think more about what you are saying and is it safe for you and your family to be saying what you are online?

If you aren't responsible then all sorts of things can happen. Yes. It's true we deal with this aspect of life every day when we are at work or meeting different people in our lives. But, with a blog especially like the one I write that goes all over the world you have to think about what people are going to do with what you write not just on your own street but in other cities and towns and countrysides across the globe. Otherwise, you aren't being responsible.

So, having a blog becomes a responsibility and not just a fun thing to do in your spare time as it becomes more and more successful over time if it does.

For example, I find myself writing a whole lot more and then deleting it before I publish it because it is too personal on a variety of levels or I don't think it is safe to put out on the Internet or whatever.

However, 5 years ago I might have put it out there before my blog got so popular that I didn't have to think this way.

A Blog is different than a writer writing a column for a newspaper because that writer is writing about something other than himself or herself. A Blogger often is writing about experiences in his or her own life and then you really have to be careful what you share with people so it doesn't harm your life or the lives of your family or people in your life.

And the younger the blogger the more likely they will damage some aspect of their lives through their Facebook posts and the like (Which is why I won't use Facebook unless I have no other means of contacting someone) (which is about 1 to 3 times a year).

So, if you are going to start a blog and be safe while doing it, you need to think about all these things before you start publishing things, especially if your blog goes all over the world like mine does.
