Blue of oceans is sort of close to the color Black which absorbs the most heat whereas the color white reflects heat like ice does back into space. Since there is less and less white and more and more blue this just causes the oceans to heat up faster and faster.
So, the problem I'm trying to theoretically solve is: "How do you reduce heat in oceans without also reducing the land temperatures and causing an ice age (long or short)"?
In thinking about it I can see something that would work to do this BUT it likely would harm sea life a lot too.
One of the ways would be to make polysterine (or another floating white plastic ball and make millions and millions of them that would float perpetually and would be white.
However, as I think about this the size would be critical. You would want these white floating balls to be too big for most fish to eat and ingest. So, i'm thinking they would have to be likely 6 inches to 1 foot in diameter in order to reduce water temperatures without reducing land temperatures and to reflect back into space off of something white.
another problem with doing something like this is spherical objects wouldn't just refect light up into space but in a hemisphere (above water in all directions) so they might be blinding to some degree to all life on the ocean like birds. So, then you might do the same thing with flat floating sheets like the size of a plywood piece of 4 foot by 8 feet. But then ships likely would tear them up into pieces driving through them and then fish would eat the little pieces. So, back to the drawing board of what might actually reflect more heat and light back into space.
Another idea might be to have floating platforms that had solar panels that would rise about 6 to 10 feet off the water that would collect the solar energy while blocking the suns rays from hitting the water especially near specific country's shores around the world that would pay for them. However, during storms they likely would have to come down to the level of the ocean or even below the surface of the ocean to protect them from storms. Also, you have the same problem of ships hitting them unless they are stationary and looked upon mostly like we look at those giant windmill wind engines 600 feet high in oceans now around the world near land.
So, the solar cell idea has some merit because you can use the solar energy, covert it to power and cool the ocean all at the same time if you had the right kind of array.
Maybe there is a way to combine solar and wind in some form which would generate power both ways while also cooling the ocean. This sounds like the best solution of all within 20 miles of land on the oceans. So, solar cells could cover the wind generators and the generators would be in a shape to cool the oceans below them all at the same time.
For example, imagine a gigantic shaft 1000 or 10,000 feet high which has a gigantic wind generator in the middle of the ocean that fans out maybe 1 to10 miles in all directions which both generates by wind, by solar and also cools the ocean. This sounds like this idea has some merit. Imagine it being like a gigantic 10,000 foot high Christmas tree which spins around in circles while shading the ocean and thereby cooling it but tall enough for any ship to travel under it as long as they miss the central shaft which might be 100 to 1000 feet wide. Looking down from the sky you would see something slowly revolving with the winds while shading the sea while generating from both wind and solar. I know there is a design out there that could work any wind from 1 mile per hour to 300 mph and be safe if it was designed by AI for this specific purpose.
So, if you have ideas that might be marketable for something like this I think you should patent them in case one of them is eventually used for something like this.
