Mostly you want to be on higher ground. You want to be living at 100 feet altitude or higher, especially if you own your own home.
2nd, you need to be in a place with a decent government with water and food protected by enforceable laws keeping you healthy. If possible you want to live somewhere with good health care. For example, even though there are too many people per square mile there for me and air quality is difficult around Seoul from wind from Beijing much of the year, Still healthcare is likely the most survivable in South Korea more than anyplace else I know of on earth. However, your lungs are going to have a problem if you live near Seoul breathing the air for years into the future that blows over from Beijing.
3rd, you need a livelihood that you can practice anywhere on earth like being a doctor or nurse or lawyer or carpenter or electrician or plumber. You need a trade that will be needed no matter whether it is rain or shine or depression or recession or good times. IF your trade isn't needed during a recession or depression you need to rethink what you are doing.
4th Though it's also true if you aren't with friends and family all the above might also be meaningless to you as well. So, how do you arrive at quality of life enough to want to stay alive?
I think we all need to do a lot of soul searching regarding this because you can make the perfect logical decisions for safety and also reduce your quality of life being away from friends or loved ones and then one day just end it all because you are unhappy.
So, soul searching is really necessary to both survive and to be happy enough to even WANT to be alive anywhere on earth.
