I remember girls wearing shorts like these in 1960 when I was 12 years old then

I remember girls wearing shorts just like this in 1960 by the way. I lived in Glendale, California then right next door to Hollywood and Burbank where a lot of filming and TV is done.

Life in Los Angeles in the 1960s was a halcyon moment full of fun in the sun and days spent walking up and down the Sunset Strip in search of a good deal and a good time. At the time LA was experiencing a boom that was unprecedented for the era. The Dodgers had just moved to the city in 1958, and the town was growing at a remarkable pace, the city was a tree waiting to be picked.

It’s clear that some things never change in spite of the era. The sun is still a harsh mistress in Southern California, and friends are always going to have a great time on long, summer walks throughout the city. The only real question is where does someone find those shorts? They’re so groovy.

Note: Groovy wasn't a term then it would have been "Bitchin" instead as in
"Wow! Aren't those girls "Bitchin!"
Which meant they were "Out of this world" or wonderful! It had only a positive connotation then WHEN USED IN THIS WAY. "GROOVY" CAME IN BY MAYBE 65 TO 67 SOMEWHERE IN THERE SOMEWHERE AND I'M THINKING IT LIKELY CAME FROM MUSICIANS AND BEATNIKS INTO THE FLOWER CHILD MOVEMENT THEN ON THE WEST COAST INTO SAN FRANCISCO AND LOS ANGELES AND THE WEST COAST THEN.
HOWEVER, IF SOMEONE CALLED SOMEONE A "BITCH" IT MEANT THE SAME THING AS NOW. BUT, IT WAS ONLY USED FOR WOMEN SIMPLY BECAUSE IF YOU CALLED A MAN THAT THEN YOU LIKELY WOULD BE KILLED BY THAT MAN! TIMES CHANGE!
BUT, EVEN IF YOU CALLED A WOMAN THAT YOU COULD EXPECT A FRYING PAN TO HIT YOUR HEAD BECAUSE PEOPLE WERE VERY VIOLENT STILL THEN UNLIKE NOW.
THEY WOULDN'T SHOOT YOU BUT THEY WOULD HIT YOU OR SLAP YOU OR KNOCK YOU DOWN QUITE EASILY THEN. EVEN THESE GIRLS IF SOMEONE SAID THE WRONG THING MIGHT PUNCH, KICK OR HIT ANYONE THAT BOTHERED THEM. THIS IS JUST THE WAY IT WAS THEN.
