Lightning sparks new fire in remote area of El Dorado County
Crews have stopped forward progress of a lightning-ignited vegetation fire in the Rescue area of El Dorado County, one of multiple new blazes crews have been dealing with Friday.
The fire started late Thursday evening east of Kanaka Valley and is burning in a remote area. No homes are threatened, according to the El Dorado Hills Fire Department.
The fire had charred an estimated 6.4 acres and was 5% contained as of around 6 a.m. Friday, Cal Fire said.
While the fire started in heavy brush in an area with steep terrain, Cal Fire said a storm cell brought brought precipitation that is helping crews quash the fire.
Firefighters were diverted from the massive Caldor Fire to fight this blaze and other lightning-started fires late Thursday night throughout El Dorado County.
