Safe in the Greater SF Bay area

I drove north today from Santa Barbara after spending a week there with my daughter and her husband. It was nice to see the sun for a change because it's been overcast since around April almost continuously where I live on the northern California coast. The highest temperature I saw today traveling north was around San Ardo on 101 which was about 93 degrees which tells me that summer is basically over because most of August it would have been between 100 and 106 there in San Ardo when I drove through on Highway 101 in California.

I drove straight through pretty much except for a sandwich in Atascadero that I got there with a coffee. It's interesting to me how green things are from so much moisture from the ocean in clouds and from the Monsoon rains that must have gone at least as far north as Paso Robles or further because of how green even the central median of 101 is.

Beautiful weather in Santa Barbara to rival Hawaii's weather from about November to April most years this last week. It was around 72 to 79 degrees in the day time which was really nice. However, because I was used to overcast I found I had to wear sunglasses even indoors to take care of my eyes because they weren't used to the sun much after spending the last 6 months in mostly overcast weather off the ocean where I live. At 4:30 pm around when I arrived in the Bay area it was 65 degrees though which at least is in the mid 60s instead of 58 or 59 which we got a lot of this summer Fahrenheit as highs.
