Power out for at least 37,000 people in our area near San Francisco

I woke up this morning to a rainbow out my bathroom window so I took a picture of it not sure how long it was going to last in the heavy winds and rains. Soon after that the power went out and is still out at least 6 hours later. However, the good news is periodically sporadically the sun is out too which allows solar heating at least into our living room to keep the house still toasty. I think night time temperatures are around 50 degrees during the storm. Highway 1 is closed in many different places and the local news people say that branches were blowing around outside of their studio and the building was shaking from all the winds too.

My wife heard a buzzing from something electrical shorting out so we went outside to make sure it wasn't on our street. It likely is on a nearby street. While we were out there a big branch covering most of the front street moved about 6 feet from the high winds and I was worried it would hit my wife so when the gusts moving it around died I dragged it downwind on our property so it wouldn't blow into our vehicles and potentially damage them. So, so far all is well except that the power is out since 7 am and it's now around 2 pm Sunday.

I started my Yamaha 2200 generator so we won't lose all our food in our refrigerator. We have another refrigerator in the Garage for when family comes to visit but there was only coffee from Kauai Hawaii in there and my wife said not to worry about it as it was in the freezer to preserve it there. However, I set up with surge protectors and cords for the wifi and TV and cable to work and so they also work and when it gets dark I can plug in one or more lights in the kitchen to see better too. Last year the power was out about 1 week at a time and the temperature in the house got down to around 58 degrees which was pretty cold for us because I'm 75 and my wife is 68. But we also have plenty of wood for our fireplace too.

My wife just said they are having 92 mph winds in San Diego and 50 to 70 mph gusts here too.
