I was wondering why the Unfrosted(2024) movie was so cartoonish and then I was thinking he might have been alive in the early 1960s. and when I looked up his age which is 70 it all made perfect sense to me.
Looking back from now, it did seem like a cartoon in many ways to me too. It must have been therapeutic for him to write this movie too and healing in many different ways. Even the attack of the mascots on Kellogg's in Battle Creek, Michigan was a parody of January 6th with Kellogg's representing the establishment and the Mascot's representing the clowns attacking the Capitol Building and wanting to kill Pelosi and other Representatives at that time. So, likely it was amazing therapy for Jerry Seinfeld to write this very funny movie to begin with.
Because he was born in 1954 which is 70 years ago now and so would have been 6 years old in 1960 so a lot of these kinds of things he would remember as a child. So, making a parody of all these things which when I researched it the Post lady was a real person that Amy Schumer plays and she actually built Mar A Lago that Trump owns now which is kind of crazy in real life too. However, I'm not sure she ever met Nikita Khrushchev.
In 1960 I was 12 years old so I remember a lot of this craziness too. But, what I remember the most of those years (especially 1955 to 1965) would be hula hoops, whamo Frizbees, the little paddles attached to balls on a rubber band, and surfers and surfing. This is what I remember the most because I grew up in Los Angeles County where all these things were happening.
Also, I remember at age 12 around 1960 the invention of the Skateboard. At first it was just a metal roller skate that kids clamped on their shoes that they mounted on the bottom of a 2 by 4 stud about a foot long.
Later because I was in the 7th grade that year and we all (boys) in 7th grade had shop classes required which was wood shop, metal shop, print shop and drafting of 1 quarter each in 7th Grade, many boys started making their own wooden little surfboard like wood tops for the skateboards and this all has continued ever since around 1960.
Later on, in a similar way surfboards became Snow Boards. In fact, when the skeg (Fin) fell off one of my surfboards as an adult I started to use it to go down ski slopes in the back country for fun. This evolved because many people were "surfing on the snow with Boards" and because it wasn't very safe (about as safe as a Bobsled I guess) they started making Snow Boards along the way too crafted from the idea of Surfing on the snow.
By the Way, Unfrosted(2024) is the number one movie comedy at Netflix right now.
