Birth rates for Women in the U.S.

This is an interesting change and probably has more to do with wealth and time available to women after 40 as well as increasing good health longer and longer into life. Also, statistically it is also found that the longer one puts off childbirth the longer those people tend to live. So, as this becomes more well known people put off having children longer and longer.

The birth rate has increased for women 40 and above by 6%

However, it has  decreased for women even more ages  20 to 24 by 9%

This last statistic I think has more to do with the difficulty of men and women this age getting jobs or getting financially supported if they aren't in college during these ages. And without a college degree it is extremely difficult to make enough money to feed and clothe and properly educate your children. So I think this statistic reflects these facts.
