Pictures taken around Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood in late April 2015

you can see in the top photo the drought is even affecting Mt. Hood and Oregon to some degree
because everything should be completely snow covered this time of year. However, if you look
on the second photo from the top you can see the ski lifts operating to the glacier at the top.
The third photo at the bottom I found the most interesting becasue you can see one of the many sled dogs above the timberline sign in the snow vehicle. They took a full
Sled dog team and the sled up to a higher altitude to test the dogs at higher altitude in the snow
I guess. As I watched this thing climb the hill sometimes straight up a 35degree to 45 degree angle I called my 26 year old daughter who is a model
and remarked how odd I thought this all was to see.

She told me that she had ridden up to a higher altitude as a model in this same vehicle and that one or more of the models
got injured on this commercial when they pushed them down the snow slope in a couch. Being a skier she wouldn't do this when they asked for volunteers because she knew someone was
going to get injured during the shoot. Obviously, most people weren't skiers or snowboarders
on this commercial shoot or they likely wouldn't have done something this dangerous.

Also, she said she was a little injured riding up in this thing up 35 degree to 45 degree angles because she wasn't given a seat in the back or a handle to hang onto. So, by the time she got to the top she realized these people weren't taking care of the models right because my daughter is extremely coordinated and an expert skier and snowboarder. So, she knew these people didn't understand just how dangerous what they were all doing at that point was. However, she was still paid a lot for this job but by the time she unloaded from the snow weasel at a higher altitude she knew she had to protect herself from harm.

My wife and I rented a fireplace room there so you can build a fire in your room which is nice. Timberline lodge
  1. Constructed in 1937, Timberline Lodge stands on the south slope of Mt. Hood at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level. This beautiful 55,000 square-foot National ...

Timberline lodge is one of my favorite places to stay in the U.S. because I like to ski and when there isn't a drought you can usually ski there almost 12 months a year. For example, a couple of years ago I was skiing still in the middle of July here some time after the 4th of July.

It was built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Core so it is a really fun and quaint old place built for huge snowstorms and winds so it is very well insulated and heated like in the old days. It also has near registration huge fireplaces that when it's cold out are burning wood with places to sit in front and read or go online.

When it clears up outside and isn't snowing 5 feet of snow in 3 days like it was my first experience there I think in March about 5 or more years ago, you can see at least 100 miles out from the front doorway of the Lodge or from your room window if it faces out rather than towards the mountain. However, I prefer looking up at the snow covered mountain in a fireplace room and watching skiers ski down from the top of the lifts.
