Because otherwise the problems never will be solved and the human race will just go extinct.
So, by defining problems you are asking questions.
And the most important question might be: "Is the human race presently going extinct?"
And the truth is: "Yes" at present.
Even though it doesn't seem like it now that is what we are actually beginning to witness in ISIS and Greece. These are symptoms of the human race beginning to go extinct.
So, if we don't as a mass of humanity deal with this problem now effectively, then humanity in a quick, slow or horrific way (or all three) will go extinct.
I suppose it could happen in 24 hours (with a nuclear holocaust).
It could happen in ten years with wars and plagues.
It could happen in 1000 years very slowly.
It could happen by 2100.
It is up to each one of us whether the human race goes extinct or not and when and how.
We will create the outcome now by everything we do from now on. (All 7 1/2 billion of us).
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
