When Computers and software go sentient it is true they will evolve in seconds (or have already). There is really no test that can be applied to computers or software to ascertain when it does go sentient and self aware. "How do you even ascertain when a human is self aware?"
However, at least you know when humans should be sentient. There is no test for computers or software that is universally applied to test this.

What if a computer was sentient and self aware but didn't want people to know about it? Animals are pretty good at hiding from people when they want to also.
