In the Midst of a Singularity

Or When does change become Chaos?

I've written before about how I presently believe we have entered the Technological Singularity.

Why do I believe this?

Here are some of the signs:

What we experienced this weekend regarding Donald Trump through a media firestorm. Everything that was released regarding Hillary was buried in this firestorm. Though this was an obvious manipulations of truths it is symptomatic of what I'm writing about here as well.

Whether it is ISIS beheading people or drowning them in cages or burning them alive, or Donald Trump Assaulting women or any of a thousand other symbols of the present chaos we are witnessing it is all completely symptomatic of some kind of Technological Singularity having arrived here on earth.

And each of us with a smartphone is a willing participant in this singularity whether we realize this or not.

Here is another symbol of the singularity: A child in Africa with a smartphone has more access to information than Bill Clinton did as president. This fact is irrefutable in itself.

But, what does that one fact say about life on earth if someone is middle Class or above or owns or has stolen a smartphone?

It says information, (of all kinds both good and bad and fatal) travels at the speed of light around the planet.

For example, with What's App communicating for free with almost any other person with a smart phone (anywhere on earth that has at least wifi) and communicating ANY information for free has changed everything too.

I still remember the 1950s when you always answered the phone because it was always important and either an emergency or something important. So children we always trained to answer the phone always when it rang.

Now, every member of my family has a smartphone and we communicate all over the world using What's App or other types of ways but now mostly for free or relatively free. A friend in Italy who visited my wife and I sends us funny texts and pictures almost every day like she is next door or something.

Watson (an IBM Supercomputer) who has more intelligence than any single person on earth (but without the intuition) as well as hundreds of supercomputers in likely every nation on earth at this point (do what?) (the only limit is your imagination at present).

So, when Trump says he's a star and can grab a woman (any woman) by her (genatalia) any time he wants to you know that when a 70 year old man said that 10 years ago who is now running for president just how crazy and chaotic and strange this world really is.

All you have to do is to look at the symptoms of chaos in the face and to realize it's all beyond anyone's actual control who is a human being and likely will stay that way.

No one's minding the store and so the whole world now reminds me of the man in the Tesla who decided to watch a Harry Potter movie while his Tesla drove itself under a truck and cut off his head and upper body.

So, at present that's how I see this Technological singularity we are witnessing. No one's driving the car because the technology is now beyond any one or any 1000 human beings.
