11.1 billion: The estimated number of plastic items littering coral reefs across the Asia-Pacific Region

according to new study (from page 8 upper right of the February 12th 2018 Time magazine).

When fish and other aquatic life both water breathers and air breathers ingest this plastic it can cause either genetic harm to their species or it can kill them outright in their digestive track or mouth or it can stay lodged somewhere in their digestive track somewhere between mouth and exit into the sea.

So, this greatly reduces both the health, genetic quality and survival of many species in these areas. This is another reason (in addition to over fishing) that jellyfish are taking over the oceans worldwide away from fish.

Because once adult fish and aquatic life are gone from over fishing or eating plastic or pollution or radiation from places like Fukushima all through the oceans, the jellyfish are not eaten by fish because they are not there to control the number of jellyfish. Then jellyfish trailing stingers kill the baby fish so less fish and aquatic creatures grow to become adults.

At this point only controlling fishing worldwide will control this ecological imbalance of the oceans of the world. So, we are presently headed for no fish alive in any ocean waters on earth at this point the way the imbalance is increasing in the ecology of the oceans of the world.

So, as some fishermen kill Sea lions and seals with rifles, they are not the biggest problem worldwide in the reduction of fish and aquatic life everywhere.

Overfishing is causing the demise of the oceans through there being too many jellyfish. Sea Lions and seals are not the biggest problem for fishermen worldwide.

The fishermen themselves are their own worst problem in reducing fish stocks worldwide at present.

And second, too many jellyfish (caused by over fishing) is the 2nd biggest problem which is throwing all oceans out of balance ecologically worldwide.
