The problem as I see it is by Trump ONLY interested in Putin as an economic rival (because Trump Thinks ONLY as a businessman and not as a real U.S. president, Trump is going to cost millions of lives of Russians, Europeans and Americans and others within the next 5 to 20 years because just like Hitler, Putin CANNOT be appeased.
