The other interesting thing is the most people who died (the majority) in World War II were not soldiers but were civilians which likely is the saddest thing of all about World war II worldwide.

However, the actual REAL number is somewhere between 50 million and 100 million people that died directly (or indirectly) from World War II.
For example, one of the crazy facts about World War I is that more American soldiers died of the Spanish Flu Pandemic than actually died fighting in World war I.
