On Monday I got a very bad feeling about heading north

Then my friend who lives in the Mount Shasta area texted me and said "please don't go through or to Mt. Shasta the weather is going to be very bad. Then another friend called to say they expected over 1 foot of snow in town. Then I looked at the temperatures this week and they said 9 degrees which is too cold to have any fun in temperatures that cold outside because of potential frostbite or death.

So, Monday I told my wife that I had a really bad feeling about heading north and she agreed. By yesterday afternoon Interstate 5 closed from Redding to Yreka, later it closed all the way from Redding to Ashland as well. My friends who were traveling south from Medford to Mt. Shasta said it was snowing hard yesterday morning as they made it from Medford to Mt. Shasta before the freeway closed. They noticed that all wheel drive cars were doing better than 4 wheel drive trucks in this type of snow that was falling for some reason. They made it back to Mt. Shasta only to be snowed in where they cannot get any vehicles in or out from their property now. They said 2 to 3 feet of snow had fallen by last night.

So we cancelled our reservations yesterday early enough before the freeway closed throughout that area from Redding to Ashland.

I-5 is closed to all northbound traffic as of right now from Redding north as of 10:15 AM PST Wednesday November 27th 2019:
