From this also came The Back to the land movement where people went out into the country and bought beautiful but often inexpensive land and built their own counterculture homes.

There were many ideas that congealed at this time often through universities. There was the Free Speech movement which was also very important regarding all this too.

And of course it wasn't limited to The Beach Boys and even Elvis and Jefferson Airplane, there were basically an unlimited group of musical groups from The Beatles to the Stones to Donovan in England and Scotland to groups all over the world who echoed certain fond ideas of Peace and Love and friendship between all nations which also helped prevent Earth turning into an asteroid belt through nuclear weapons.

It's not to say that that didn't happen too but the basic psychology of friendship and love and kindness between nations helped prevent earth from staying an asteroid belt through time travel from the Flying saucers that Eisenhower bought from aliens too. 

The 1950s were a very paranoid time where most people believed everyone was going to die in a nuclear war because World War I and World war II and all their atrocities had already happened on earth.

Now sometimes I worry we might not be paranoid enough to keep our democracies intact in order to prevent more problems in all directions for example.

In the end human life is about balance like the ecology more than anything else. IF anything gets too out of balance then everyone dies (or at least most people on earth die along with all the other species).

But, how do we find a balance so that at least some humans can still live on earth peacefully?
