Why?
Because often what happens when people are unrealistic about who they really are they just drink alcohol and eat food and sleep and then they are dead within 1 to 5 years time.
So, people do best at retirement who are somewhat self disciplined and more contemplative or who can afford to take active physical excursions places and meet new people and do different things.
In other words just staring at your wall until you die isn't going to stimulate you enough to want to get up one more day and have interesting experiences in life.
So, being creative in your basic nature is important in retirement.
The reason I can speak to all these things is I have already been retired because of my health for around 25 years now since 1998.
Being retired is about like being in School when you are young and then suddenly you are on an eternal Christmas or Summer Vacation.
How did you do during Summer Vacations when you were young and in school?
It's something like that with 4 seasons every year depending upon where you live.
Some people are great retired like myself and others are gone pretty soon because they are workaholics and cannot function without a job.
However, I notice that people who work part time at something (even if it is a volunteer thing) seem to be doing the best for years and years after they retire.
So, make sure you are realistic enough to retire and to have it work for you.
