I was wondering if it was historical that Julius Caesar burned the Library of Alexandria? According to Plutarch it was Julius Caesar burning Egyptian ships before they attacked his army in Alexandria Harbor?
Also, I guess I haven't watched this movie since I was 15 in 1963 either because I didn't remember Julius Caesar being slain in the middle of the movie before. I had assumed that Julius Caesar went after Mark Antony when he made off with Cleopatra who was the mother of his son Caesarian. But, instead it was Caesar Octavius who actually caused the deaths of Mark Antony and Cleopatra instead while trying to consolidate power to himself in the Roman Empire at that time.
The other thing I didn't understand was that the Library of Alexandria was burned BEFORE Jesus was born. So, there couldn't have been any records of Jesus there because it burned BEFORE he Jesus was born.
I have found trying to do much research on historical facts this far back in time is pretty hard. Even to find historical Facts about Jesus is hard too. It's almost easier to find Tibetan Records of Jesus than ones that are accurate in the Middle East because of all the corruption of Kings and Queens and killing everyone who didn't believe a way they wanted them to for basically 2000 years now since the birth of Christ.
For example, the Essenes (of which Jesus historically was an Essene) believed in Reincarnation which is one reason why I believe Jesus took Buddhist Compassion and coverted it to Forgiveness (which was to help the middle East get away from "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth) which has kept the Middle east such a mess for thousands of years now.
As long as you are killing people for what their ancestors did 1000s of years ago your culture cannot move forward very much and progress as a civilization. So, when Jesus brought forgiveness which is an aspect of Compassion he changed Human civilization whether you benefit from this in a secular or religious way worldwide.
I still haven't watched this whole very long movie. I'm just at the part where Mark Antony goes to Egypt to hang out with Cleopatra. But, this is before Caesar Octavius sends a naval fleet against Mark Antony and Cleopatra in Egypt.
