Was the Ford Model T engine a Straight 4 like the Model A Ford?

Though the Model T Engine was a straight 4 it had 1/2 the horsepower of a Model A which had much more power. However, my father was alive starting in 1916 and he said from about then to 1925 or 1930 there weren't usually paved roads except inside of big cities. So, the Model T was mostly driven on dirt or rock roads at speeds below 25 miles per hour and the Running boards were to ride on (extra men) to open and close farm and ranch gates so you could drive through and not let the livestock out.

The Engine That Put America On Wheels: 1909-27 Model T Ford ...
Yes. The Ford Model T used an inline or straight 4-cylinder engine. This design places all four cylinders in a single straight line along the crankshaft.
The Model T engine displaced 177 cubic inches (2.9 liters) and produced 20 horsepower. It featured a simple, reliable flathead design and was uniquely built into the same unit as the transmission.
Would you like to know more about how its transmission worked, or how its unique splash oiling system operated?
