There is only one scene that I don't like in Dark Shadows which is the hippies around the campfire being eaten by him. I knew kids like this in college so this was the only scene that was too much for me. But, during the rest of the movie I laughed all the way through it.
I don't like horror movies as a rule. But this one because it is so funny with Johnny Depp camping it up with a Movie made about a real soap opera that I sometimes actually watched with my mother really cracks me up. Especially when they play "Knights in White Satin" my favorite song from the Moody Blues and a song by the Carpenters. It transports me back to those times 1972 when I was 24 and still single and dating in San Diego, Los Angeles and traveling to Mt. Shasta with my friends to climb it or to camp in the woods somehow then and even climb Castle Crags with friends. The muscle cars take me back to my own brand new 1968 metallic blue Camaro I bought in 1968 that would have been 4 years old and still in the family in 1972.
So, other people might have a take or leave it attitude but I really love this movie because it transports me back to another time when I was young and my parents were still alive and I had a type of hope one only can have in their teens and 20s.
By your 40s your hope is for immortality.
But even with youthful hope I barely made it from 21 to 25.
