Can Iraq not be partitioned off into Sunni Anbar, the Kurdish north, and the Baghdad to the South Shiite on south to Basrah?
I'm not sure but the answer is likely this is what we are going to see, a partitioned (long term) Anbar Province, a partitioned long term (Kurdish north) and a partitioned Baghdad to the South Shiite majority to Basrah and on over to all of Iran.
In the long run Baghdad to Basrah likely would become part of Iran eventually, if the Iranians help defend Iraq like they are now.
What will happen to Anbar province?
In the short run it likely will belong to ISIS but Sunnis won't put up with ISIS long because the Shia government in Baghdad is not half as cruel as ISIS is. So, the Sunnis that aren't killed or beheaded will find a way to get weapons and to fight back against ISIS. But, in the long run even if ISIS is completely defeated Anbar might stay partitioned away from the Shiite areas of Iraq in both the short and long run.
