But that is meaningless if there is no water to grow food with. So, even though the Sacramento, San Joaquin and Coachella Valleys and Salinas Valley and others can grow an amazing amount of food in those 4 growing seasons for the U.S. and the world, if there isn't readily available non-salinated water to grow food it means that food in the U.S. and the world is going to become much more expensive everywhere.
So, this doesn't just affect the U.S. it affects mostly poorer countries who cannot afford to compete with the U.S. and Europe to buy food. The U.S. and Europe and Canada and places like Australia can afford (because of their higher standard of living) to buy food from around the world at almost any price. So, they are going to get quality food no matter what. But, what that also means is poorer people around the world are either going to have to grow their own food, (if they have water available and the weather to do this or they are going to just starve a lot of the time.
So, droughts like in California that are 100 to 500 years droughts and the 2006 Droughts in Australia that were so bad many farmers killed themselves because of no hope for a future, these kinds of droughts that are becoming more common around the world will more and more cost lives in poorer countries around the world.
IT is important to be aware of what Global Climate change is doing to our planet and it's people.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
