Sliding Doors

We have about 6 sets of double French doors on our home. But, about 5 to 7 years ago we realized we needed to replace them because the ocean weather was ending their usefulness. Finally this year we found what we wanted to replace them with. We found thick wooden sliding doors with French handles so they look like double doors still but instead slide. This is nice because we can put screen doors in the fall spring or summer on them and let the wind blow through when it isn't too intense in the warm weather because people where I live don't have air conditioners because the high temperature for the whole year likely will be 85 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit on one or more days. So, most sunny days are in the 60s or 70s here on the northern Coast of California. Because when it starts to get hot is sucks the fog in off the ocean and makes the fog drizzle often so everything is wet with salt drizzly air.

So, the past two days (if you were wondering why I haven't been blogging more this is why) I have been involved in making sure they were installed correctly. Luckily we had really good materials and a really good crew so we are pleased.

The new doors have an aluminum type white coat on the outside to prevent the deterioration of the wooden part of the doors in the salt air which is great too.

So, even though it took us a long time to decide what to replace the 6 double French doors with it was well worth the wait. Even the Finish carpenters installing the doors thought they were really great.
