So, unless someone is on board a ship, no one will be living there in the future after the ice caps completely melt out first in the summers and falls like now and then eventually year around there will be no ice at all at the north pole.
So, the closest people (who won't be on ships or flotation platforms) will be Canada, Alaska, Russia, etc. and whatever islands are land in the area.
I'm just trying to get you used to the idea that eventually (likely this century) there isn't going to be ANY ice at the north pole at all and all that is just going to be "OPEN OCEAN" up there.
And the same is going to be true of the south pole as well except for the land mass under Antarctica.
