Drove Home to Northern California coast today

After going out to dinner with 3 friends last night we went back to our hotel and packed up for our return to our Greater SF Bay area Home on the coast. Though I like skiing in Mt. Shasta when I lived there always the hardest time for me to be there during the year was from about Halloween until the first snows. However, Global Warming has sort of changed that with very unseasonal warm temperatures: take a look at these:

So, even though it still gets below 40 degrees Fahrenheit most nights now it is over 64 to 72 degrees which is very very warm (at least traditionally) if you go back to the 1970s and 1980s when I first lived there in the mt. Shasta area. I was able to drive one more time on Saturday up to Upper panther meadows and lower panther meadows as the Everitt memorial highway was supposed to close at Bunny Flat today according to the Forest service.

Our drive south was pretty good with temperatures mostly in the mid to high 70s all the way down Interstate 5. By the time you get past Redding there is still a lot of smoke and haze from northern California fires in the air even though most of them are somewhat under control now.

We came through early enough to miss bad traffic in Sacramento and Stockton because I try to bypass San Francisco Traffic which I find at this present age tends to wear me out a lot especially between the hours of 7 am and 9 am and 4 and 6 or 7 pm weekdays and Sunday afternoons and Friday afternoons into the evenings too. So, since I'm mostly retired now I try to avoid all these peak traffic times just for my own peace of mind and anyone riding with me in a car or truck. We got home around 6 pm tonight and were grateful to return home after being gone almost 2 weeks to mt. Shasta and Portland. (Shasta a couple of days going and a couple of days coming back). What is unusual is that the highs where I live here on the coast is 76 down to around 66 degrees which like I said is very very unusual for the month of November being this high. November is often the coldest monthof the year traditionally because it isn't usually cloudy or foggy except during rainstorms in Norvember.
