Writing

 It can help a lot when you write if you are somewhere inspiring and beautiful. But, then you also have to think about when you go somewhere beautiful you will be distracted possibly by the beauty of the place you go and possibly the beautiful people you might meet there. So, it is important if you want to write anywhere that you know yourself in regard to all these things.

Also, rewarding yourself for writing something good like the writer in you is your child or something would be good too. Often rewards go way down to the subconscious and help you write more in the future too. So, don't forget to reward yourself for writing or doing something good in life.

Knowing yourself and your subject is good especially if it is of a historical nature. However, if it is fantasy you have a lot of freedom. However, if it is serious science fiction you have to at least understand basic physics and where physics may be going in regard to things like faster than light drives and time travel to some degree so people understand you are more serious than most about all this sort of thing.
