Is it possible to engineer your life?
Sort of.
Why only sort of?
Because there are many many many unforeseen events that will occur that will change your plans. So, in engineering your life you must be an opportunist and very adaptable to all the changes you will face.
Otherwise, your engineering masterpiece will be unworkable and you (like me) might consider suicide as an option like I did from ages 21 to 25 when I realized that my engineering masterpiece of a plan of my life could never work.
But, once I became a complete opportunist and began the path of embracing:
"There are no problems ONLY opportunities."
Then as a capable engineer like my father I was able to adapt by age 25 and 26 to the world as it actually is:
COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE.
This is the thing you have to always remember.
For example, people might have thought in Tulare county that they could farm this year but now their farmlands often are underwater for up to two years because of the 300 percent of normal snowfall in the Sierra mountains near them.
And it is questionable whether even Sacramento won't be flooded too (since Sacramento was under 6 to 12 feet of water for 6 months to 2 years in 1862 this is possible too.
So, as all these things: tidal waves, rising sea water levels worldwide, increasing rain and wind and tornadoes and hurricanes and the speeds of winds in all these things, life is becoming more and more unpredictable.
However, in engineering your life if you can embrace the attitude that:
"There are no problems ONLY opportunities" it changes the whole way you think about everything.
So, if you think about things as problems you are immediately defeated but if you think of problems as opportunities (which they always are) then you are empowered to survive anything!
For example, in 1994 I was going through a really terrible divorce. I was trying to get custody of my 5 or 6 year old daughter too. I didn't see how I could survive the divorce and custody battle protecting my daughter. But, when I embraced the thought of "There are NO problems ONLY opportunities" I began to look at all this differently.
First I prayed to God for what I needed. Then God gave me a new wife who helped me file for custody of my daughter for her safety. Then I got joint legal custody of my daughter eventually. So, though all this was a very difficult time for me to survive my 40s and even though I almost died for 9 months when I was 50 years old and this forced me to retire, I still learned that "There are no problems ONLY opportunities".
So, instead of dying or giving up or turning to bad things in my life I was able to actually move forward, get joint legal custody of my daughter and then almost die and then retire and here I am in 2023 at almost 75 still going strong.
So, if you want to survive your life and maybe even be happy: "There are no problems ONLY opportunities."
In looking at life in this way you are never defeated and you never give up because you are not in a defeatist way of looking at things.
There are no problems only opportunities.
If you want to engineer your life so it actually works for you and others embrace this one statement.
By God's Grace
