I really like this quote in relation to Dzogchen initiation and practice. It is very well written.

Dzogchen means "Great Perfection" in Tibetan. It is a high-level practice in Tibetan Buddhism (mostly the Nyingma school) and the Bön tradition. It teaches that your true nature is already pure, clear, and awake, and you only need to recognize this natural state instead of trying to create it.

Vipassana Meditation for PTSD | InterCountry Adoptee Voices ...
Vipassana meditation is an ancient, observation-based technique meaning "to see things as they really are." Rediscovered by the Buddha over 2,500 years ago, it uses self-awareness to explore the deep connection between mind and body, aiming to purify the mind and eliminate suffering through radical equanimity.
Core Principles and Technique
  • Self-Observation: Focuses on watching physical sensations and mental processes without reacting or judging.
  • Impermanence: Teaches that all sensations and emotions change, helping break cycles of craving and aversion.
  • Equanimity:
Cultivates a balanced mind that remains peaceful amid both pleasant and unpleasant experiences.
The 10-Day Course Format
  • Residential Setting: Typically taught through intensive 10-day silent retreats.
  • Noble Silence: Total abstinence from talking, reading, writing, and eye contact with others to minimize outer distraction.
  • Daily Schedule: Involves roughly 10 hours of daily meditation starting early in the morning.
  • Foundation: The first few days focus on breath awareness (Anapana) before transitioning to full body-scanning Vipassana.
If you're considering attending a retreat, would you like information on how to find a local center, what the daily schedule looks like, or tips for preparing for a silent course?
