Overwintering monarchs cluster on
oyamel trees in a preserve outside of
Angangueo,
Michoacan, Mexico; one tree is completely covered in butterflies.
I've seen overwintering clustering
in Various places in California of the Monarchs.
It's pretty amazing to watch if you know which trees
that they tend to cluster on year after year. both these
photos should expand to be able to see better if you
click on them.
Populations such as these recorded by
Fred Urquhart for 1950–1958 varied "dramatically".
