At least in Oregon and Washington and Likely in California too wherever colleges are starting people are renting up all the rooms in college towns throughout the west coast from Washington down to California wherever colleges start next week.
This also collides with conventions and late or later vacations people are taking so they don't lose their vacation times.
So, especially if you want somewhere to stay in the next 7 days to 2 weeks or wherever or whenever colleges are starting where you are traveling to it might be important to get reservations ahead of time and not just letting it go to the last minute.
I just spent at least 2 to 3 hours trying to find a place near where I wanted to be tonight online and on the phone. Usually, I can solve this kind of problem with a single phone call or a leisurely trip online.
So, heads up if you are traveling near any college towns if they are starting this next week or so. Parents seeing their kids off to college and visiting dorm rooms is going on now big time.
