I had an interesting thought this morning as an intuitive. What if the driving reason the NSA and CIA directed the development of the Internet and smartphones through DARPA actually was caused by our descendents in the future and really not much to do with now at all?
Imagine our descendents with a database of all phone calls made from about 2000 on, with text messages from whenever people started doing that, and now there are something like 5 billion cell phones on earth (more than flush toilets on earth) that when they wanted to travel to visit a relative (ancestor) through time to protect their births in the future it would be much easier than before. By studying digital recordings of all phone conversations and reading their texts, they could locate anyone with a cell phone both by location and by what that person was experiencing generally on any given day they might want to go back through time to visit them or to protect their own births in the future.
So, it could be that our descendents came back from the future and told the NSA and CIA that they needed the Internet and texting and digital records of 5 billion cell phones so they could trace not only the location of all people educated enough to own or use a cell phone, but also to locate the states of consciousness at any given moment in their lives back through time.
So, this would be less about us in the present and more about protecting the future time lines than anything else that people normally think of now.
