I became more interested these last few days in the new invention from China that moves water through Superhydrophobia. So, I drilled down to learn more about this new invention. I was thinking about places of drought and whether this technology might be helpful to move water up small elevations so it could drain down into valleys past mountains that are parched. The answer is probably not right now but if this superhydrophobia system works in a small system there might be ways to move larger amounts of water uphill over time to solve the worlds drought problems over coastal ranges into deeper valleys from the oceans that are desalinated.
When I tried to copy material here to give credit there it didn't work so you will have to click on whatever site you want to visit.

Many studies have been devoted to the motion of a single droplet on a horizontal or inclined substrate under specific assistance. However, the self-propelled water motion, especially continuous antigravity water delivery, still remains a considerable challenge. Here, a novel self-ascending phenomenon driven only by the surface energy release of water droplets is found, and a superhydrophobic mesh to pump water up to a height of centimeter scale is designed. An integrated antigravity transportation system is also demonstrated to continuously and spontaneously pump water droplets without additional driving forces. The present novel finding and integrated devices should serve as a source of inspiration for the design of advanced materials and for the development of new technology with exciting applications in microfluidics, microdetectors, and intelligent systems.Advanced Functional Materials, 2015

As a younger man I observed the American River Canal
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-American_Canal
And how it travels along Interstate 5 from Northern California to Southern California. However, near the Grapevine they have to get this river to flow uphill near the Grapevine of the California coastal range. The way they do this now was to put huge empty pipes the size of trucks over the mountains. Then they seal the bottom ends of these pipes and fill the pipes with water. This creates a syphon over the mountains so the natural weight of the water helps move the water so much less effort has to be done with pumps to pump this river over the mountains to Los Angeles and points south.
So, I'm thinking that over time this syphon method combined with a potential version of Hydrophobic pumping might be used instead of having to power the water through electric powered pumps over mountains like this in the future.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
