CNN and likely other networks have memorial showings to help commemorate this event. I believe the CNN one is 8pm in some or all time zones. If you are in Pacific Daylight time sometimes these things are at 5 pm PDT and sometimes not.
My experience of 9-11 was being woken up by my wife who was watching morning TV and her saying, "I don't know if this is science fiction I'm watching or the news, Fred. But, you better wake up something might be happening. I got up just in time to see the 2nd plane go into the Twin Towers in New York City Live. It was more like watching science fiction at the time than real life, UNTIL the towers came down one by one and people all ran for their lives and we knew then thousands had died. Before that we saw people jumping off the buildings who were above the fire because it was less painful to die jumping than burning up. This was what 9-11 was really like for those of us who saw it on TV Live then.

The event at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum began at 8:40 when the Brooklyn Youth Chorus sang the national anthem, followed by the beginning of a recitation of names of those killed in the 2001 and 1993 attacks. Readers of the 2,983 names include family members of those who were killed in both attacks, according to the museum.
Each of the six moments of silence in the ceremony is timed for events during the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. At 8:46 a.m., a bell was rung to mark the first moment of silence, commemorating the time at which the first plane struck the North Tower. At 9:03 a.m., another moment of silence observed the time the second plane struck the South Tower.
The ceremony, attended by both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, comes on the heels of recent changes for the area surrounding the former World Trade Center site. In March, the World Trade Center transit hub, with its soaring Oculus centerpiece, opened to the public. Last month, Westfield World Trade Center, a $1.4 billion shopping complex, officially opened, although some stores haven’t yet been completed.
On Thursday, officials announced new plans for the performing-arts center planned for the World Trade Center site and said Barbra Streisand would be its new chairperson. Planned for the corner of Fulton and Greenwich Streets, north of the memorial, renderings for the building show a stone cube with a translucent facade.
The procession will end at the Co-Cathedral of St. Joseph, in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood, where a noon mass will honor the victims of the attacks, according to the Diocese of Brooklyn.
