As you are getting older: An Optimistic attitude is often important for longevity

When I was young I used to think of Church people who had this optimistic attitude and were all cheery all the time as Phoney.

But then I became 40 years of age and realized I likely was going to die without more positivity in my life. So, my present wife is an optimistic and helpful woman always, highly educated and always helpful and wonderful to everyone especially me. Without her I can rightly say "I would likely be dead now." Because I wouldn't have retired or been able to retire or have been convinced to retire rather than dying. She basically didn't want to grow old alone or to raise our now 20 year old daughter alone and demanded I retire so I didn't die. This wouldn't have happened if I hadn't been with her and I would have died at age 50. But then there is the other side of it which was I refused to die because I had a 2 1/2 year old daughter and a 9 1/2 year old daughter and my son was around 20 or more at the time also. So, having someone around you that is optimistic and positive and cheerful and helpful can keep you alive like my present wife has kept me alive to help raise our children and almost 20 years later I'm still alive and so is she.

So, like I said, without someone cheery and optimistic and who wouldn't give up on me I already would have been dead since 1998 already.

Think about this as you approach 40 or beyond. Because I wouldn't even have made it past 50 without someone like this in my life.

By God's Grace
