craziness

A friend of ours realized she was being poisoned at work by a machine not properly vented and went to the Emergency room because she could not breathe right. However, then she hit a deer leaving the forest we live in in her car which is full of deer especially at night. I think it was a buck right now because they all have antlers and are in rut so they just aren't their normal selves. She didn't see it and it just ran into the side of her front fender and then either bounced away or ran away or whatever. Either way she never saw the animal except when it's head went over the hood of her car and it's chest impacted the fender of the car which was bent up from it. However, the car still drove ok and there was no blood at all on her car. What a crazy day for my wife and her friend! She said there was a big tour bus in front of her full of people and that likely spooked the deer and it just didn't see her car which is a low slung sports car. So, no one knows what happened to the buck because he disappeared as quickly as he came and into the night.

A friend of mine had an experience with an Elk in Yellowstone something like this. Elks are just so big when he hit it it rolled up over the hood of the car, broke out the front window completely, rolled over the roof and somehow landed on it's feet and then got up and walked away. However, my friend had to get out and beat his hood into a shape where the engine could still run and drive at night without a windshield in the cold of Yellowstone National Park. He was driving a Subaru Outback all wheel drive station wagon.

I have stood next to a moose that was only a teenager. It was already taller than 6 feet 5 inches just at it's shoulder and the horns on a Moose are as wide as most cars and the tops of their heads are often 8 to 10 feet high. You really don't want to piss something like this off if you are just walking around unarmed.

Later:
Regarding my wife's friend who hit a deer. I heard more later and here it is: The deer (or buck) hit the car a glancing blow which may or may not have spared the buck or deer's life. There is snot from where the nose hit the hood of the car and then bangs down the right side of the car so it is possible the deer or buck was only slightly injured and just ran away which is why there was no deer or buck there when our friend came to a full stop.

Any way you look at it this had been a really crazy difficult day for both my wife and her friend.
