In other words Obama said that 37% of Republicans support Putin and this likely would make Reagan turn over in his grave that they would support a former head of the KGB. HE says this type of partisanship makes us vulnerable.
When you are more interested in destroying the other side whether that is Republicans or Democrats than defending your nation against all other nations then your nation might not be around anymore.
I agree with this statement. Part of the reason is people are ONLY wanting to hear their own point of view. This was not possible in the 1950s because every point of view often was heard ad nauseum on the TV.
However, you can choose partisan news only now. You can choose moderate which is CNN only as a TV STation now. Or you can choose Liberal which is MSNBC. OR you can choose Conservative which is FOX or now you can even choose Breitbart which is basically Hitler kind of news which cuts up even Fox News conservatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
When the ONLY moderate news sometimes is CNN, NPR or the ABC, NBC and CBS nightly news reports, of course you are going to get people who are rabid Liberals, Conservatives or Nazis like now. Then you have even more radical stuff like ISIS websites where 1.6 billion Muslims can plot to kill all Christian nations on earth which in itself is part of the reason for the increasing partisanship and even white Nationalist Sentiment worldwide now.
On one level it is like FDR said,"There is nothing to fear but fear itself" which I have personally found to be true about 90% to 99% of the time. IN other words people's paranoia is often much worse than anything real.
The true example of this horror is how many children find their parents loaded guns and shoot themselves their brother or sister or friends or their parents because of the parents paranoia of one kind or another.
