I wrote about this before but here goes again. Because there are not many homes or buildings between where the northern edges of the fire are most firefighters are guarding people's lives and property first throughout the state which makes sense logically. However, as the northern edge of the fire edges slowly (through the winds and embers) further north we likely might see cities like Dunsmuir and Mt. Shasta eventually affected and places like Castle Crags which lies between the fire presently and Dunsmuir and Castle Lake and Lake Siskiyou affected eventually unless enough resources are put on the northern end of the fire somehow to stop it's slow onward progression northward through the wilderness.
Another problem is the lack of roads out there too where likely only helicopters dropping hotshots or bombing with helicopters and planes can presently reach. and also they likely are going to be protect thousands of homes elsewhere in the state at this time.
Everyone knows that we haven't even reached the MIDDLE of the fire season yet and it could theoretically get twice this bad if arsonists keep setting fires especially in southern California.
